    PVC, a material composed of 57% chlorine and 43% carbon (derived predominantly from oil or gas via ethylene), was discovered in 1835 and is highly resistant to water, chemicals, and fire. It is commonly used in construction, automotive, and everyday products due to its weather-resistant, easy-to-clean, and long-lasting properties. Recycled PVC material play a great role in protecting environment. PVC recycling methods: Mechanical recycling involves grinding PVC into small particles that can be remelted and reused to make the same or new products. Chemical recycling uses processes like pyrolysis or hydrolysis to convert waste into reusable components. The resulting products, such as sodium chloride, calcium chloride and hydrocarbon products, can be used to produce PVC, raw materials or fuels. Recycled PVC for further processing PVC is a powder that is mixed with a plasticizer to make it flexible. The resulting mixture is then extruded into the desired shape. Other additives are added to enable extrusion and give it special properties for use (anti-UV, coloring, fire resistance, etc.).     Generally, PVC can be divided into soft PVC and rigid PVC. The rigid PVC for about two-thirds of the market, soft PVC accounted for a third. Soft PVC have plasticizers, such as phthalates, adipates, and phosphate, while rigid PVC contains little or no plasticizer. Soft PVC is used for floor, ceiling and leather surface, although soft PVC can be made to be resistant to chemical and liquid damage, is not easy to preserve, it has less utility. Rigid PVC features good suppleness, easy molding, can be preserve for long, non-toxic, it can be used for broad application. The essence of the PVC is a kind of vacuum suction plastic film, used in the various types of panel surface packaging, so they are called PVC decoration film, with film, used in building materials, packaging, medicine, and many other industries. The building materials industry accounted for the largest proportion, at 60%, followed by packaging industry, and many other small range application industry. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) molecules containing chlorine atom. It is a kind of polarity strong material. PVC has the very good acid and alkali resistance, wear resistance, fire resistance and insulation performance, but light, heat stability is poor. There are four methods for preparation of PVC: suspension method, ontology method, emulsion method and solution method. The most common suspension method, most applications of PVC resin is this kind of resin. The product contains according to the amount of plasticizer (typically dibutyl phthalate, dioctyl phthalate) is divided into hard, half hard and soft three kinds of materials. Rigid PVC including plasticizer for 10-25%, half hard PVC for 30 ~ 40%, soft PVC for forty to 70%. All PVC products must contain a certain amount of stabilizing agent, in order to avoid degradation occurred in machining process. Soft PVC products of the plasticizer is to make polymer become soft. Plasticizer choice or plasticizer of combination, and finally the finished expected performance to decide. Most of the plasticizer to some extent also plays the role of processing aid. Plasticizer reduced resin melt temperature and viscosity, which can prevent resin adhesive to processing equipment on the metal parts. Some products need impact modifier to improve durability and toughness. In generally, different types of PVC require different impact modification additives to achieve the right performance goals.   • The compound of PVC, PET and other plastic material
    The PVC resin is generally processed in calendaring plant, and it needs blending, mixing and compounding by addition of suitable chemicals called as additives and fillers to make compound before processing in the calendering plant. Other then PVC resin ABS, PE, PP and Styrene are also used for calendering process. PVC resin for rigid compounds made either by the suspension or bulk polymerization process is best in the 1.7 to2.0 relative viscosity range. Homopolymer grades are used alone and in combination with 2 to 10 percent acetate copolymer. Different additives and stabilizers have different function in calendaring Heat stabilizers are needed to PVC film, when heated PVC naturally tends to degrade, first by yellowing then by turning dark brown and losing its physical properties. Many types of stabilizers are used, Metallic salts, mixed metal salts, organotins and tin mercaptides are the major categories. Stabilizers added to a formula between 0.1 and 5.0 percent to retard degradation by tying up hydrochloric acid (HCL) generated by the heat of processing. Plasticizers are used to make PVC soft and flexible but thereby lower melt viscosity, modulus and transition temperature. Two common plasticizer groups are in use such as Dioctyl phthalate(DOP) and Epoxidized soyabean oil. There is no plasticizer in our PVC sheet or PVC film. Impact modifiers are used to absorb shock to improve impact resistance of PVC compound. The selection of ABS, MBS, Chlorinated polyethylene( CPE) or acrylic polymer chosen on the basis of their impact efficiency, clarity, weather ability and stress, whitening, as well as their processing characteristics. Process aids assist stabilization and increase the melt strength of the sheet during calendering and post processes such as thermoforming. Lubricants are added to reduce the tendency of PVC to stick to the hot metal rolls of Calender. Lubricants are either external or internal depending on where they are most effective. Stearic acid or zinc and inorganic stearates and soaps are classified as internal lubricant. Paraffin and polyethylene waxes are external. The resin is premixed and blended with stabilizers and other additives by using Ribbon blender or High speed mixture. The premixing is done up to 80°C for better absorption and soaking of the resin. After blending of the two compounds, it is fed to a fluxing machine. Fluxing is done under temperature at about 150°C.

    Qualified PVC film demand that the surface should be free from specks, dots, pin holes and hard particles. It is important to find out the causes of such defects and eliminate them to ensure the quality. Various sources of hard particles are: 1. Resin 2. Other solid ingredients in the formulation 3. Processing condition 4. Contamination like dirt and dust Resin: Fish eyes appearing on the surface of product can be particles from the resin itself that do not get fused under a given set of processing conditions. These fish eyes do not absorb plasticizes and do not fuse readily. They appear on the surface of the extruded rigid PVC sheet and even puncture the film or appear on PVC product. Other solid ingredients in the formulation: During mixing, sequence of addition of additives like lubricants, processing aids, impact modifiers etc. plays an important role. Non-uniform absorption of ingredients especially like plasticizer by PVC, results in fish eyes. Coarser particles of non melting ingredients like CaCO3, TiO2, carbon black etc contributes to hard particles. Processing condition: Gel formation during processing is generally related to extent of shear and or heat that the compound is subjected to. If gels are from resin, it would appear on the product surface in random location and non linear form, while aligned defects are always caused on the production line. Contamination like dirt and dust: Possible contaminants in the processing environment such as dust and dirt which can influence the PVC film.

Since unmodified PVC resins are virtually unprocessable, the need for additive modification is indispensable.
